Matthew is deeply committed to his close-knit family and values these relationships above all else. His family structure has instilled in him the importance of being a team player, unwavering support for each other and the value of sacrifice and hard work. He loves to travel, the opportunity to embrace new experiences and treasures time with friends and teammates, approaching these connections with warmth and loyalty.

Matthew is a dedicated student entering high school this fall. When he is not in the classroom or on the ice, he enjoys learning to cook family recipes, listening to a wide range of music and spending time following his favorite football team.

A Motivated Student:

With his thirst for knowledge and eagerness to learn, he is looking forward to starting a new chapter of his education in high school. He is looking forward to new challenges and the in-depth class offerings available. As an honors student, he excels in History, Geography, and English and enjoys taking these courses for the challenge they offer. Matthew is looking forward to continuing his French studies, which he started after a trip to Quebec. He brings curiosity and consistency to his studies, is a focused student and respected member of the student body, by not only his peers but faculty.

Player Overview

Style of Play: Matthew is a poised, pace-matched defender who thrives on shutting down the rush. He maintains a tight gap. He steps up early and kills plays before they develop. With the puck, he’s clean and efficient, delivering that first pass on the tape to start the transition. When the moment is right, Matthew will join the rush and support the attack. At the line, he gets pucks through low and creates chances without forcing it.

Attributes: Dependable, composed under pressure, high hockey IQ, great vision on the ice, the ability to read plays, high compete level, strong physical presence, dynamic skating ability and leadership abilities both on and off the ice.
